Mission Statement
We are committed to initiating and supporting high quality clinical research in radiology for the purpose of improving patient care and comfort.

Clinical Activity and Infrastructure
Radiology Ltd. is one of the largest physician-owned group practices in the United States, and has been providing diagnostic imaging services for over seventy years. Radiology Ltd. established the first free-standing diagnostic and interventional outpatient imaging center in Arizona and was also the first practice to provide PACS services to the community. Currently, we have ten centers throughout metropolitan Tucson (population 1 million) providing advanced CT, MRI, PET, digital X-ray, ultrasound, DEXA Bone Densitometry and digital mammography. Two of our outpatient facilities also have state-of-the-art angiographic suites. We are the leading provider of diagnostic and interventional radiology services in Tucson.

Radiology Ltd.s investment in cutting edge technology has made it an authoritative leader in diagnostic imaging. We are one of only a few centers for specialized noninvasive cardiac CT and MRI in Arizona. Our interventional radiologists perform many outpatient interventional procedures including diagnostic angiograms, venograms, biopsies, vertebroplasties, nerve blocks, myelograms, and arthrograms.
We have 14 MRI and 10 CT scanners including one 64-slice Toshiba CT, two 64-slice Siemens Sensation CT (Cardiac Option), three Siemens Avanto MRI (72x18 channel, SQ gradients), and 2 Siemens Espree wide bore 1.5 T MRI scanners. We also have two PET scanners including a GE Discovery LS PET/CT (4 row) scanner. We have 12 ultrasound units (Phillips, Toshiba, Siemens, GE), 12 x-ray (including 5 digital) units (Siemens, Toshiba), as well as 7 digital mammography units (Hologic).

Radiology Ltd. is the largest volume Mammography Center in Southern Arizona with two free standing Women’s Imaging Centers that have full-field digital mammography, ultrasound, and MRI services. Our Women’s Imaging Centers are fully accredited under the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA). We perform many interventional breast procedures including stereotactic, ultrasound, and MRI breast biopsies, cyst aspirations, ductograms, and fine needle aspirations.

In addition to outpatient services, Radiology Ltd. provides a wide range of expert imaging services to Tucson Medical Center (the largest hospital in southern Arizona), St. Joseph’s Hospital, and Northwest Hospital.

We are the only providers of interventional neuroradiology procedures in Southern Arizona. These procedures include endovascular coiling of brain aneurysms, angioplasty-stenting of intracranial artery stenosis, carotid and vertebral artery angioplasty/stenting, embolization of brain tumors and brain/spinal arteriovenous malformations.

Our interventional radiologists also perform uterine fibroid embolization, chemoembolization, radiofrequency ablation, TIPS, biopsies, peripheral angioplasty/stent, and arterial and venous thrombolysis.

Clinical Staff
At present, Radiology Ltd.has 47 board certified radiologists with many certified in one or more additional specialties. These sub-specialized radiologists include: neuroradiology, interventional neuroradiology, interventional radiology, musculoskeletal radiology, women’s imaging, nuclear imaging, and cardiac radiology.

Support Staff
We have a highly qualified staff of professional technologists and registered nurses, the majority of whom are board certified in their specialty areas.

Information Technology Infrastructure
Because of the volume of examinations, Radiology Ltd. has developed an efficient system for the creation, interpretation, and dissemination of medical images. We use Amicas PACS and Pacsgear scanned document archiving systems for paperless interpretation of all outpatient images. Amicas PACS is also used at all in-patient facilities. Full remote access to all medical images is provided to referring physicians through a secure website and server to their desktop PCs. Paperless patient check-in similar to that seen in airports is presently being installed. In women’s imaging, Penrad is used for report dictation and database management. There are 8 full-time information system specialists in the Radiology Ltd. IT department.

Partnering Philosophy
Our facilities have been purposefully designed as showcases for our medical technology industry partners for the demonstration of their products. One of our centers was the first site in the world to provide clinical imaging on Toshiba’s most advanced high-field MRI system. Siemens, Hologic and Amicas have designated Radiology Ltd. a preferred site-visit center for their customers, recognizing the accessibility of our highly skilled radiologists and technologists within attractive and convenient centers. Our administrative staff is available to help coordinate vendor-driven site visits, with assistance for everything necessary to assure an outstanding experience for their customers.

Research Infrastructure
The Radiology Ltd. Research Foundation was formed in mid-2006 to provide an umbrella organization for many different ongoing research projects at Radiology Ltd.(mainly referring physician driven), and more importantly, an on-site organizational structure for original clinical research and for participation in large multi-center clinical trials.

The Research Foundation clinical research team is comprised of three radiologists with extensive clinical research backgrounds, including one with a lengthy applied science research background, a clinical trials coordinator with significant previous experience in establishment of a large clinical research foundation, and a dedicated clinical trials nurse.

Present Research Activity
Over the past 15 years, Radiology Ltd. has participated in many clinical research projects involving Phase 2, 3, and 4 clinical trials. We have performed imaging exams for a variety of research sponsors studies for various diseases such as Alzheimer’s, osteoporosis, arthritis, and hepatitis. Our radiologists have participated in hospital-based clinical trials, including a brain aneurysm study at Tucson Medical Center and the “lung plug” study at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
